could be but they added the pad in 67 and I dont know that anything changed in 68. maybe it had to do with no rag joint on the steering. those were required in cars in 58 I believe. the changes always start with cars then move to trucks. I still think if there was enough US demand they would have onctinued. they also lost US military contracts at the same time so that could have been another contributing factor.
