I have both the 318 Poly and 360 flywheels. The last time I had a flywheel re-balanced for a 360, the machine shop flubbed it up and I had to track down another for them to do it again. Poly flywheels and the gas it takes to go get another, for me, cost too much to deal with doing it again if they screw this one up. I asked Ray about a flywheel spacer- no response. I asked if a bad LA crank could just have the flywheel flange cut off, machined, and used as a spacer. He didn't tell me why it COULDN'T be done, but didn't elaborate on it at all. If I could machine or buy a ring gear and spacer, it'd be great. If there was an adapter to mount a mini starter to the Poly bellhousing and an off-the-shelf bendix available, it'd be great. The adapter would be easy for me to make at work. The same would be for the LA crank flange machining for a spacer. Ray stated that he didn't see much of a market for some of the stuff he made for us anymore- I completely disagree. Profit shouldn't be the prime motivator with this stuff. We love our trucks, and I, for one, would do the R&D for free and share the info. Working six/seven nights a week gives me NO time to try many of any ideas on a lot of our needs. That, and money is far too tight for me to be able to buy parts just to experiment with. Research is 99% of getting us there. I wish I could be the one to help.
