The days when it was easy to power a gas station with a portable generator are sadly long gone.

Mostly, due to government regulation, stations run multiple safety systems all interlocked including tank loss monitoring, underground hydrocarbon detection and fire suppression. Then you have to deal with an underground pump, usually 240 volts.

Give me a couple hours I can work around most of it and pump gasoline, but not meter it. Give me 20 minutes and some hose I'll suck 100 gal of gas right out of the underground tank.

We have 1 vendor in the area who built all their stations with a 200 amp generator plug on the outside of the building, around $4000 at time of construction. Unfortunately, they never bothered to test the generator idea because their Insurance carrier warned them they wouldn't be covered running from a generator.
