The A833OD came out in '74, if I remember right. It was basically the original gearset for 1st and 2nd, 3rd was the original 4th, then a .72:1 overdrive for 4th/OD. You see them in a lot of '70-90 Dodge light-duty 2wd trucks. The "Hemi" A833 had 18 splines, as opposed to the "regular" 23 splines on the other engines. It's not entirely accurate, though- 440HP cars also got the 18-spline ones. I have a '68 B-body 18-spline one laying in the garage that gets tripped over pretty often. I had two OD ones in Dodge D100 trucks years ago. For reference, the B-body A833 is a direct bolt-in replacement (and major upgrade) for the OD truck tranny, which is only good for low-performance, light-duty use. They just had too much space in between 2nd and 3rd to be "tight". Overdrive was nice for my 3.54 gearset and 27" tires at that time, though.
