Do you need the shorter 'cartridge'?

Pump rebuilders basically press the pump apart, and replace the bearing/seal/shaft as one unit. Called a 'cartridge'. If your hasft alone is long, it can be cut down and the flange pushed further on. If the housing and cartridge are both long, you need to cut down the housing and install a shorter cartridge.

I suspect the cartridges are generic. OD, length and shaft size is all that matters?
