Hard shifting-trans fuild milky

At the end of last summer while driving my '41wc 3/4 ton it started to shift hard. It seemed the longer I drove it, the harder it became to shift until I couldn't shift at all and had to park. I check the trans fluid and it was milky white. Well spring is here and the weather getting warmer and I want to get back on the road. I need advice & suggestions
to fix this problem. Thanx
