Hey WOJ,

Thanks for the detailed reply on the Mico brake issue, that you sent replied to me about on 4/4/01...Sounds like I need to flush out the brake system. I was putting this off until I had to. I guess I will have to get to it in the next few weeks. Acouple of questions I hope you can answer for me...

Many thanks in advance...Bob

1. Is it the Mico lock handle assy on the
dash I need to actually remove and flush out ? I am assuming so, and what do I need to disassemble on it ?

2. Are there any gotcha's in the disassembly
of it, like springs flyiung at me, etc ?

3. After cleaning the valve, and apply light air pressure, what should I expect to see the valve do, and what do I not want to see it do ?

4. On flushing the brake system, what do you feel is the best approach ? Open all the brake cylinder bleeders and pump out as much as I can, refill, and do this a few times, or is there a better approach ?

5. I have no idea what brake fluid is in the truck now, DOT 3 or DOT 5. I am assuming the older DOT 3. Can I flush it with the new DOT 5 a few times, and refill with the newer
DOT 5, or do I need to stay with the DOT 3 ?

I have no idea of the physical condition of the brakes or wheel cylinders on this truck. I only know that it stops well, the brakes feel good, and I have no leaky wheel cylinders. That might not sound too good, but same old story, never enough time for all the projects.

6. When I do bleed the brakes, do I need to bleed the Mico lock on the dash, and if so, should I do that last ? I've always bled
from the farthest wheel cylinder back to the closest wheel cylinder to the master cylinder.

7. I know people say you can bleed the master cylinder, and people do it on a workbench, when your installing a new master cylinder. Is there a way to bleed a m/c in the truck, and if so, should it be done first ?
