I on the advice of the man who cut the glass I used the silicon method on a front winshield of a wc 1/2 ton back in 1970.I still have the truck and the system is still working fine.It does block any water from getting under the glass and causing rust and frost damage.I just did another one this last year and used black silicon and had a job cleaning off the extra(used one whole roll of paper towels).The one I did in 1970 I used clear and it was easyer to clean off but didnt look very original.The black looks close.The next one I do I will cover the Frame and glass with masking tape first except for a margin around the outside.When the excess is cleaned off then I will remove the tape.
