OK, now I have a lame question. I have a 1962 WM300. I also want bigger wheels and tires. Can I put the 19.5 inch wheels on it without fear of breaking an axle if I get stuck? I use my truck for hauling gravel for farm roads and on muddy and on steep rocky roads with deep ruts sometimes. I drive it some on the highway. A general work/farm use truck. My tires are about worn out and before I put money into the same size, I would like more info on what bigger wheels and tires I can use without hurting my axles and diffs and transfer case. Next question: you say plain steel vs. Budd wheels. what is the difference? Does one have a great advantage over the other? You say the plain steel 19.5 inch 8 bolt wheels are fairly easy to come by. From where? What trucks did they originally come on? And last, you say the tires are expensive. My tires usually get cracked sidewalls before I use near all the tread, so I don't put tires on but once every blue moon. I might be able to afford them. Any idea how much the 19.5 tires cost? And can you get them in a really deep lugged, mud type tire for deep mud and snow? I don't need a very wide tire. Where do I start looking for the 19.5 inch 8 lug wheels? I assume I will have to go to a big truck garage or dealer to find the wheels and tires. I know that is more than one more question, but before I spend $500 on 16 inch tires, and not be happy with them for the next 10 years, I would like to learn more about the biggest wheels and tires I can put on it without damage to the drivetrain. thanks a lot in advance for the help. One more thing--on plain steel wheels you speak of, do they already have the correct offset or inset, whatever you call it, or do you have to have custom work done to make them fit, like cutting out the inner part of the wheel and welding it back into another wheel? Again, thanks.
