Hey all,

On my 61 wm300 fire truck, I had mentioned about the sticking Mico lock brake, back in forum 37. I appreciate all the good help I got then. One of the first things mentioned was to work the handle, As the spring for the check valve could be sticking. I did this for a few weeks on and off including applying some wd40 and oil on the cam of the handle and on the pin the cam handle pin pushes against. It seemed to help slightly, but 90 % of the time the brakes will release for a minute or two after you release the handle.

I am hoping it is just something to do with the spring or check valve. I have a few questions that I hope some of you all would be nice enough to advise me on.

1. Is the spring/check valve right behind the handle, and if so, what is the best way to get it out ?

2. Possibly it is just gummed up ?

3. If I remove the spring, can I just stretch
it a little to see if it now will work, and possibly the spring is just weak ?

4. If I take apart the Mico lock handle to
to attempt a fix, will I have to bleed the brakes ?

Many thanks in advance to all, and hope to see some of you at the rally in Thomson, Ga. in May. Bob Stopka...
