Well, this has been a most interesting thread about interchangeablility between M37 and larger M-series trucks. Talking about air pressure for wiper motors, was there ever a compressor kit for M37's? I'm not too sure it would pay just for wipers, but it would sure make braking nicer if one could retrofit an M-35 or similar brake booster unit. Is this too crazy, or has someone already done it? I think it would be nice to have air for tire repair in the field too. During the talks re lock-ring tires, I didn't hear anyone mention that, lacking a safety cage in the field, if you place the lockring to the ground, then stand or sit inside the rim while inflating, you're somewhat protected from a ring blowoff. We did it this way in the field while in the army. If the ring does let go, the combined weight of you plus the tire will help absorb most of the energy. It's unlikely the ring will escape and injure someone. Additional safety can be had by driving a pinch bar into the soil thru the center hole in the rim,
thereby capturing the ring if it departs. (Just don't ever straddle the tire with one leg in and one leg out, and watch your butt-cheeks when the bead seats!) Comments?
