Orientaton of input/output ports on fule pump?

I am removing my electric fuel pump and going back to the mechanical one on my ffpw. I have a 251 engine. Concerning the mechanical fuel pump, when mounted on the block which one of the ports is the input side and output, the one facing forward or rearward? I cant find an arrow.
