You can buy a lot of parts for $800 (or whatever you would have to pay) and you won't have to deal with the rest of the truck.
The only thing that seems like it might be hard to get would be doors in good condition.
At least, you won't have much of a problem hauling it home. I would think the cost of hauling a parts truck any distance makes this deal a non-starter for most people. Although, maybe, we will soon see a new owner who plans to do a complete restoration and install a diesel.
