John, W300s with duals were stock with 4.88. That would do 60mph at 3027rpm with 33" tires and you could not get shure grip with duals. I have towed a PWTW (probably 4700lbs) with my 64 PWTW with a poly and 4.10s. A little slow to get going, but on the highway no problem except stopping, so I am going with dual master power brakes and see how that works. I have driven a few W300s and they had power brakes and worked well.

I have this W300 here. it has an LA318 and is underpowered due to the crew cab, extended frame, 9' box and massive 20K winch.
