in new york, you do not need a title on vehicles before a certain date. am unsure if its 1969 or something close. my command car is registered and insured. i used the bill of sale and NH registration provided by the prior owner. I believe i could BUY a title from a broadway title, but i do not see a need. if you MUST have a title for your vehicle, you may have to go the agency route. there are others who buy another similar vehicle that has a title and vin number. they transfer the frame or transfer the vin number to the vehicle being restored and scrap the other. i cannot opine on the legality of this, but there is a company making new 1957 chevies. you must provide them with a 1957 cowl containing the vin number plate from the 'donor' vehicle. that passes muster. i cannot opine on legality of doing either, but i'd find out for sure what can be done and what is required first.... you can put a new frame under a landrover or a jeep with no issues......
