I always wondered how electric trailer brakes could adjust their force based on how hard you push on the service brakes. It seemed like if they just worked off the brake light circuit they'd either be "on" or "off". The pendulum makes sense. They're basically just electric surge brakes. What if you're going downhill though, and you'd like to coast.

Wouldn't the pendulum think you were trying to brake and so it would apply the trailer brakes, which would slow the whole rig down more, which would make the pendulum swing forward even more and put on the trailer brakes harder? Does it ignore the amount of swing you'd get from a normal highway downgrade?
