There's a '53 ambulance about a minute from my house that they owner wants $2500 for. It's been sitting for YEARS. There was a '54 a few miles down the road that went to the scrapper last summer because nobody would give the guy $1000 for it... and it was driveable. There's an M37 in town that's SHOT and sports a 302 Fourd the owner tried to get a grand out of and eventually gave up on selling. Don't get me wrong- your ambulance is the best-looking and neat as they come. You also got it for a really good price; worth every penny. But, they're completely impractical for daily transportation, and most people just like trucks. If I, personally, had yours, I'd clean up the outside, POR-15 the heck out of it from top to bottom, and park it beside my garage as a cool lawn ornament for storage of my excess parts. Restored, they're really nice, but the return investment would be waaaay in the negative. Because they're not all that popular, they're getting crushed pretty often. It won't be too awful long before what you have becomes quite rare. If you CAN store it, keep it away from the elements and hang onto it. It will only appreciate in value in the coming years. If you can get it semi-driveable, take it around the block a few times a year. The thrill and looks you get out of it are priceless. The big thing to remember with our old Power Wagons is that if it's not a labor of love, you're best of passing it on to someone who will treasure it. My '50 and '54 trucks will be with me until I die, so if I throw five times what it's worth into them, I don't care. The pride I have of just being lucky enough to have them makes me appreciate them more every time I walk past them every day. To many, they're junk. To me, those people are junk.
