There are three 'humps' in the "pressure palte cover" where you can get your fngers n to feel the step between the clutch disc and the literal 'pressure plate', the big iron part the pushes against the disc. I't usually about 1/32-1/16. Make all three palces even, and the tranny will slde right in.

Oh, you are using long studs in the bell house/tranny bolts, that you can slide the tranny down, without bending the clutch disce, right? Easier, better, safer that way.
