IIRC, any swinging needle is measuring volts. In the case of these gauges, the resistance of the sender varies, which varies the volts flowing through it, which the gauge reads.

Hmmm, I better go dig through my heap-o-gauges. I may have a mechanical oil and temp, and maybe a 12v SW fuel? That would solve most of my dilemmas. But I do need to build a tank with the proper sender mount.
