I spent eight years' spare time restoring my '58 Airstream Bubble. 16'. It is a beauty, awaiting my retirement. I actually drilled out hundreds of rivets to pull the whole shell off the trailer part to put a new floor in and fix some of the metal. Sandblasted the steel frame and painted with zero-rust (not the greatest - maybe should have used POR). It would have been easier to build one from scratch, but since it was Airstream, I think restoration is justified. It turns out mine is the highest serial number Bubble known. I've only seen one other '58. I pull it with my '53 PW, but not too far. My '99 volvo V-70 does a great job, and some day I will get a hitch installed on my 53 Chevy sedan if only for parading around. when I got the Oregon Special Interest license plate for the Bubble, the DMV lady said, "Now you can't take this camping unless it's a show or rally." I said that everywhere the trailer goes is a show and rally, and she just laughed. Time will tell if I end up paying as much in fines as the regular trailer RV license costs, but so far so good since I haven't had it out much anyway.
Good luck with that giant Sovereign International.
