The only problem what so ever turning the power up on your Cummins, if you do it properly, is damaging the transmission. You will not hurt the 5.9 unless you get bad advice.
The transmission, if you have an auto, is probably the weakest link on the truck & needs to be babied. It can be made bulletproof but you're looking at a big bill...upwards of 5k for a transmission done properly & you can spend over $1000 on a good TC to go with it...probably the most important part.
If you have a 6 speed, the clutch is the week link & a good clutch will cost you $1000+.
As far as the engine itself...the modifications...the sky is the limit but really all you need is a good programmer & gauges. So long as you're not pulling huge loads, the injectors, turbo...they'll work fine up to 500hp & the engine will outlive the rest of the truck if you do it right & always watch your egt's.
The manager of PDR has gone off on his own & knows more about these trucks than anyone I've ever met. That said, Haisley, Direct Injection...they'll all fix you up if you get the right guy on the phone.
If you want Mark Wilson's phone number..send me an email.
He won't steer you wrong. He may tell you to buy a 12V but he won't set you up with anything that'll damage your truck.
