I'm getting to the end of my project to make one good engine out of two partial ones, to replace the one that threw the rod last year. I'm down to the last thing, the fuel pump. The thrown rod destroyed the fuel pump on the old engine. The fuel pump on the new engine has a brittle old diaphragm that is sure to disintegrate as soon as it starts pumping. I can't find any numbers stamped in it, and it's different from any of my others so it would be the usual hassle to try to get the right rebuild kit.

So, I'm rummaging through my bone-yard and I find an electric fuel pump. I'm not sure where it came from. It has exactly the same mounting hole spacing as the mechanical one so I can just bolt it over a blanking plate and won't have to mess with mounting it somewhere on the body or frame, making a bracket, or even drilling holes. I put it in a bucket of water and hooked up electricity to it and it pumps like nobody's business. I'm out of excuses not to use it. Please don't think I've gone over to the dark side or that I'm going to use electric fuel pumps on everything from now on, but here it is. It's so easy that I can't say no.
