I was with a group of archeologists and grad students doing a survey of potential dig sites. I was the all round dogsbody. I did security, dealt with the locals repaired equipment yada yada...
Only one of the grad students spoke Spanish, but he was from the east cast and his Spanish had a heavy Puerto-Rican influence. It amused the natives no end, while they found my Mexican influenced Spanish offensive. I really had to clean it up for them.
We would have donated the trucks to the village but they told us the army would just take them. So I let the local who had worked as our mechanic take all the parts he wanted and we tore them apart with a backhoe.
It got kind of rough down there after we left.
We had a lot of trouble with the drive lines getting dented & bent. This was mostly do to the careless ignorance of the grad students.
A lot of broken u-joints as well.
All in all they were great trucks.
