Thanks for the replies. Some of the info I neglected to include, it is a 2000 model year, has 133,000 miles. It is a 4.2 V-6 engine with a manual tranny. The hydrolock was supposedly caused by a coolant leak through the intake gasket but I have no way to verify that yet. The hydrolock occurred while driving.
It sounds like it is worth doing a bit of forensics but in all reality, my best bet might be to swap in another engine. I like this truck, but I cant rationalize any reason to keep it. My original intent was to fix it and sell it, and generate a few dead presidents for the Power Wagon fund!
