I picked up a really decent Ford F-150 from a guy who works for me. He bought it, drove it 4 days and the engine locked up on him. He took it to the dealer, who told him it had hydrolocked and bent the rod.
He was going to take the truck to the scrappers, which I couldnt believe, he had just paid about 4 grand for the truck, it has a nice plow, a color matched fiberglass cap, great tires. I asked him what he would take for it and he said $400 bucks. I couldnt let that go, so I got it. My thoughts initially were to get another engine and swap it in. Today I started thinking about what it would take to repair the existing engine. So when an engine hydrolocks, and bends a rod, is there other damage too, like to the crankshaft etc?
Thanks,
Tim
