Is the floormat retention clip broke?

The floormat is an old and well know issue. The manufactures have increased the mat clearances around the pedal and increased the use/aggressiveness of the retainer clips to keep the mats from moving to address the issue. However some aftermarket mats don't meet the federal standards or uses place them on-top of the factory mats causing them problems.
