I guess we do have a couple of those about 40 or 50 miles from here. Only they are not single lane and are much larger than the animation that Tom posted. In fact, the "town square" is right in the middle of the circle. Judging by the buildings in these downtown business districts, they were laid out that way before there were ever any motorized vehicles on the streets. Oh, and there are small triangles at each corner created by streets that pass in front of the stores, court houses, etc. and create 4 square corners, so there is actually a full city block laid out square with a circle in the center intersecting the square at all four quadrants. Now that I think about it, maybe the town square was originally square and later on the corners cut off with the addition of a interior circle.

Sounds like they are reverting to 19th century technology.
