If you go with the 318, you will experience loads of power and get fuel economy around 13 mpg as I did with Power Wagon, and do it all for short bucks.

Diesel power will give you awesome power, fuel economy in the high 20 mpg and cost huge bucks.

With either conversion, you should consider Power Disk brakes on all 4, Power Steering and a complete front end rebuild for safety, along with new tires etc.

A B5.9 is to large to fit in the engine room of a PW. You would have to cut the firewall and let the engine extend into the roomy and spacious 3 man cab, then fab a dog house to cover her up. The B5.9 is very heavy requiring even more front suspension. The B3.9 will drop in the engine room on PW's like a factory fit. Still needs some suspension help. No firewall cutting required whatsoever.

If your on a close budget, loose the diesel idea. You could easily have 10 grand in a complete conversion and all upgrades before you ever had roll out. The 318/NP-435 is a very cost effective way to go.
