6bt or 318??

I would like to put a 6bt in my DPW ambulance, but am considering a 318 for economic reasons. Anyone have experience with both of these swaps and can you give me details as to what needs to happen with a 6bt, as far as fabs and such? Are there kits for the 6bt?
I understand that the 318, with a NP-435, stock t-box, power steering and disc brakes could come in at around $3k?
