I just got a call from the gentleman who had the 1948 with spare parts for sale on eBay. The auction ended on Saturday, I think, and didn't meet his reserve. He said the WC and '48 are in above-average condition, and from the pics, it looks like there's a good start and parts there. He's in the middle of Indiana (Duane, Ron, you guys here?), and about three hours from me. He said he'd take $1950 for the '48, spare cab, and extra parts... apparently, there are quite a few extra parts there. I simply cannot come up with that much, and if I did, Crystal wouldn't speak to me for a month if I brought yet another truck home that we can't afford to fix.
He's a super-nice guy, and I'd love to see the trucks go to one of us. If I buy a scratch-off (lottery ticket) later and it's a $2000 winner, I'll buy them. Considering the odds, let's consider that scenario as likely as me converting to Hyundai. His number is 812-236-6376. You never know- we could all go in together and get parts that we need.
