No zerks on the clutch shaft?

I just realized there's no way to grease the ends of the clutch shaft. No wonder the shaft and bushings are all worn out. What would it have cost them to put a zerk on each end? The business end has a hole in the journal that is presumably for oil. The other end has nothing. Are you supposed to just squirt some oil in the general vicinity from time to time? Or did the engineers deliberately design them so they'd wear out in 50 years and we'd have to go buy new trucks? Anybody added a zerk to theirs? I'm working on a beater truck so I'm not going to try to replace the bushings, but this seems like a major oversight.
