convex or domed side faces out on this type. these engines do no tuse the type with a lip. then you smash it slightly in the center to expand it in the hole. I use a piece of oak to expand them. Or you can skip that and use the rubber and steel type that have a nut/bolt in the center that you tighten and it exapnds the rubber to a nice fit.
