I think most are polyester, but I've heard of epoxy, teflon (for slippery stuff, the green carburetor linkage frnstance), acrylic, nylon... Basically, any kind of plastic that will fuse together at moderate temps, 350° maybe. I suspect that the best jobs specify EPOXY powder, but I haven't seen any discussion about choosing the various powders.

My neighbor builds bumpers in his garage. Sean Huston, on IH8 Mud. He just tried a different coating guy. We could still see metal through the finish, dull patches, and fisheyes. There is a big difference in shops. He had to take that piece back to his previous coater to be redone. Since then his old guy also stopped jerking his chain on scheduling once it became obvious that Sean was serious about taking his business elsewhere.
