Unfortunately that's the truth. But once you get it rebuilt he will love it. I had to have the unit in my old W500 rebuilt and it made a HUGE difference.
Mine had water in it and was fuel of really gross sludge stuff. We noticed there is a filter in the corner of the cab on the driver's side that was getting dripped on somehow (maybe condensation in the cab or rear window leak?) and this water was following the hose from the filter to the brake unit under the floor. I made a little cap to cover the filter and hope that will do the job keeping water out.
