A plugged evaporator drain will eventually result in a moldy smell.

If its coolant that's leaking, you should be able to detect the anti-freeze. You do run anti-freeze don't you.

It doesn't hurt to try to clear the evaporator drain. That's sort of a (neglected) maintenance item anyway.

Just don't get so enthusiastic that you risk puncturing the evaporator. I don't know how yours is setup, but that shouldn't be much of a problem.

I know some people will disagree, but before I pulled a heater core (which can be a bear on some vehicles) I would try some radiator stop leak. It's cheap, worth a try and I've been very successful with it.

It it doesn't work, the heater core is coming out anyway.
