when the DMV is checking the vin they go by the frame number here. If the number is gone and you can prove ownership they will assign a new number and stamp it on the truck. Also the DMV here only inspects our vehicles when the are from out of state now. They don't issue titles for vehicles over ten years old. What you need is the previous registration and a bill of sdale from the person listed on the previous reg to you. Its a royal pain.
