I believe the spare tire mount on the driver's door was only used for M43 ambulances, regardless of year.

I have 2 ambulances and 5 M37s, (3 of which are residue, but still have cabs) and all have the slave cable connector in the same place.

The slave cable wires don't go go the battery, like they do on an M35. They go to the frame and to the starter motor, since that's closer to the slave connector. See if your + wire is long enough to reach the starter motor. If it isn't, it probably is for some other vehicle or a "super jumper" 24 V generator set. I put a genset slave connector on my ambulance by adding about another foot of wire to + lead, which was enough to reach the starter. Made a good soldered splice and put a couple layers of shrink tubing over it.

You call it a "charger receptacle", but the system is designed to carry full starter current just like a pair of jumper cables would. The idea is you get yourself a slave cable and plug any dead M-series vehicle into any M-series vehicle with good batteries, and you can immediately start the dead one without waiting for it to charge. For that matter, if the dead one is a diesel, you don't even need batteries in it.
