Well, I am the primary architect/developer/programmer of my own web-based software. Five years ago not a single line of the proprietary code for this "program" had been written. I have written the majority of it myself. I use a simple text editor and I don't use anything that produces code snippets for me so I'd tend to say that I have created an "original program".
However, I use compiled script languages and rely on things like Server 2008, SQLServer and IIS, etc to run my application with so I assume OS and these sorts of programs are what he's referring to. As that side of things is completely out of my area of expertise I couldn't say one way or another.
