I couldn't say either way, having not tried it. The guy certainly seemed positive about it, and he was somebody who could have gotten good tamarack or doug fir cheaply if he'd wanted it. Maybe his crawlers tear up the decking so fast the toughness and cheapness matter more than rot-resistance. Appearance obviously doesn't matter at all for an equipment trailer. On the other hand, I also knew a guy who finished the floor of his house by slathering motor oil all over it, and after the oil soaked in and he'd wiped off the excess it actually looked really good and didn't feel oily at all.
