Makes it sound like the pitman arm is clocked wrong. Proper clocking is to count the turns of the box, set to center, and install pitman arm with box centered and wheels straight ahead. Seems that they are built with a tight spot in the center, to aid keeping it straight when going straight. Also straight ahead is where it spends most of it's time, the wear happens, and allows some wear that can be adjusted for beofre the center gets as loose as the rest of the stroke. Yours may be a skosh too tight if you can feel it.
