I do have some experience breaking saginaw boxes. I don't think it is out of the question that there could be a mechanical problem after the steering box, think about how much harder the steering is when the front diff is locked. Think it is possible that something is wrong with the air locker? I would consider disconnecting the box and checking all the joints throughout the steering travel in particular the king pin? bearings/bushings (not sure if that is the right term). I also think it is completely possible for a reman box to be bad. West Texas off road who rebuild my box told me they don't warrenty a box unless the cooler and lines are thoroughly flushed and the pump is replaced because usually a box failure will leave metal particles in the rest of the system. They fixed mine anyway! I really can't recommend WTOR enough they really treated me well and I would bet if you give them a call they will talk to you even if you are not a customer.

Lastly if you would like sometime on your way to your farm detour to my house and I will be happy to swap boxes from my truck and you can see if it makes a differnce. It only takes a few minutes to change out.
