The only reason I turn PW drums is that 99% of them have been turned...& turned wrong. These drums 100% have to be turned with the hubs bolted to the drum... Then they need to be stamped & only ever bolted on in that position.
Every truck I've bought, they've been done wrong & consequently way out of round.
The problem isn't the annoying pulsing...the problem is that even if you've arc'd your shoe to the drum, you need to leave way too much clearance between the shoe & drum to make clearance for the drum running out of round since the bottom end of our shoes are bolted firm...as opposed to newer vehicles where the shoes can float a certain amount.
But I'm with you...if your drums haven't been run metal to metal & there is no pulsing through your brake pedal, mark the drums as to which corner they came off & be sure to stamp the exact position on the hub.
It makes the difference between thinking you need a disc brake kit & having brakes that will easily lock up 11.00 x 16 radials....how much better than that do we need? :)
