Cool rig, and nice of you to help out. I wonder if it's possible, on something that old and low stress to braze a cracked head. Back then mechanics used to repair lots of stuff that we think we need to replace these days.

I clicked on your post because I have a '52 Reo M35 parts truck, but obviously that's an entirely different beast and a way bigger engine. The truck did actually run when I drove it the final 7 miles downhill to my property about 10 years ago. It had no brakes so I just kept it in gear going down the steep hills, with a friend driving a newer M35 in front of it to catch it if it got away from me. I don't know what the big 6 cylinder gas engine in that truck is, but under all that compression it backfired spectacularly at regular interval, sounded like a 12-gauge every time.
