Each day on my way to work I pass a memorial to 107 sailors who perished when their battle cruiser, the USS Boise was hit by the Japanese during the Battle of Cape Esperance. I imagine the horror of their final moments. I think of these young men who never had an opportunity to experience life like I have. Many never got the chance to marry, have children or experience the joy of working on old trucks. I am grateful for them.
