paper gaskets

OK, I'm being real picky here, but that is the way I am.... It seems like where I use these thin paper gaskets, like on the transfer case and the transmission, after a but the oil starts to seep thru. Even when I use aviation gasket maker on both sides. Am I doing something wrong? I've taken a couple apart that were weeping and the gasket is soaked all the way thru. No way it was going to not leak. I know why folks use RTV now... but I think I'll try a different gasket material.

Thoughts?
