Yes, I have seen them. You can lift the bare block with one hand. A bit of trivia - there are no cam bearings in this block. The cam "bearings" are machined directly into the block. Apparently they never wore out, either.

A friend had one in an early Valiant convertible. Had a factory 4-bbl intake. I can't recall if the exhaust was the factory cast iron header or aftermarket.

There was a mid to late 1920's Dodge roadster running around Portland (similar to a 23-T Ford) with an aluminum Slant Six in it. The head, as you note, is cast iron, so it was painted black or MOPAR blue (don't recall now) and everything that was aluminum was polished, including the block. All other metal was chromed. The headers were all straight pipes with internal mufflers and the intake was three 2-bbl Weber horizontal carbs. This was a mighty impressive looking hotrod, much more fun than a parking lot full of the usual Chevy powered 23-T's. In fact, this hotrod was very similar in engine compartment looks to the old Hot Wheels Red Baron car, for those of you who remember that one. The body was black and there was of course no helmet.
