Running Board Brackets Reproduced

I am getting some estimates on having running board brackets molded out of high strength Sheet Molded Composite (SMC). The main reason I am looking into this is that SMC appears to be an ideal substitute for steel in this application. It is underbody and nonappearance. With water and mud continually collecting in the bracket a SMC part would not be subject to rust and would be low maintenance and high strength. The part could be molded out of black material and require no paint. Any feed back on this subject would be greatly appreciated. As always when considering something like this volumes play a critical role in cost, so if many are interested, the tool cost can be spread across a higher volume of parts.
