Your sending unit is secured in place by a locking ring. you may not be able to see this without removing the tank or opening the access port in your bed (if it's there).
If you clean around the unit well you should see a 3 tab locking ring. A dull screw driver at a low angle applied to one of these tabs, aided by a mallet, and you should be able to turn the lock ring. Once that is out, the sending unit should come right out. Maybe others on this site could direct you a good rebuild shop...
