Maybe the spitfire was a plymouth or Desoto engine and/or maybe it was a 265? I don't remember but it was something to that affect, I think ? I can't recall the name but, in Georgia and I'm sure other areas of the country, there are large rebuilders who rebuild industrial engines for equip.-forklifts ,welders, pumps, etc. with gas and diesel engines. Many used CHRYSLER L-heads. Most people or companies are not picky and order these rebuilt engines which function fine for utility purposes but might not be built as we would for our trucks,as you know how picky and extravegant our dreams are, wanting perfection from a utility designed piece of equip.like our PWs. They will have a warranty and as long as they function and do not knock or go bad, what else could we want? they are old,out of date engines known only for being reliable, simple powerplants. We tend to forget they are not HP vintage showcars but simple work trucks.
