oil filter for my '56?

This week I installed a new oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets. I was hoping to fire it up today, but when I went to install my new Wix 1071 filter, it came up about two inches short, and of course did not look anything like the filter that was in it.

Can I get a filter from someplace besides the VPW part CC676575 that is show on this page of their catalog?? http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/pdf/parts/01engine.pdf

My filter looks like it has one of my socks wrapped around six horse hair donuts...
